Agri tips & updates - Thursday, Jeera prices closed lower by 0.95 per-cent at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) on account of a surge in the supply from the producing regions in the midst of a decline in the export demand.
At the NCDEX, September 2015 contract for jeera futures closed at Rs. 15,595 per quintal, down by 0.95 per-cent, after opening at Rs. 15,725 as compared to its last closing price i.e; 15,745. It reached the intra-day low of Rs. 15,570. Worldwide output of Jeera is around to be 2.2 lakh MT yearly, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT each year.
India exports Jeera mainly to the US, Japan, UK, UAE, Singapore, Brazil, Bangladesh and many other countries. Besides this other major exporters are Syria and Turkey.
